What is E-liquid?

E-liquid, or vape juice, is the fluid used in vaporizers and e-cigarettes to produce vapor. It consists of nicotine, flavorings, propylene glycol (PG), and vegetable glycerin (VG). E-liquids vary in flavor, ranging from tobacco to fruity and dessert options, and allow users to select nicotine levels to suit their preferences, from nicotine-free to high-strength.

Vape juice, a key component in vaping, is composed of a blend of four primary ingredients. These are VG (Vegetable Glycerin) and PG (Propylene Glycol), which serve as the base, along with added Nicotine and various flavorings to enhance the experience. Notably, vape juice is free from tobacco, eliminating the risks associated with tobacco combustion. This absence of combustion also means that harmful byproducts like tar and carcinogens, typically found in traditional smoking, are not present in vaping, making it a different experience altogether.

Shortfills are larger, nicotine-free e-liquid bottles, typically in sizes like 50ml, 100ml, or 150ml which are slightly underfilled to allow room for adding nicotine shots, enabling customization of nicotine strength. .

This is more convenient for those who consume e-liquid quickly and seek both flexibility and cost-effectiveness in their vaping experience.

Propylene Glycol, commonly known as PG, is a transparent and flavorless substance with a water-like viscosity. It's a key component in vape liquids, responsible for delivering the 'throat hit' sensation and effectively carrying the flavor.

Beyond vaping, PG is also a versatile ingredient found in various everyday items, including food products and pharmaceuticals.

Vegetable Glycerin, often abbreviated as VG, is a substance with a notably thicker consistency, derived from vegetable sources. In the composition of e-liquids, VG plays a crucial role in producing the actual vapor.

VG is not just limited to vaping; it's a versatile ingredient found in various everyday products, including toothpaste, pet food, and an array of beauty products.

The ratio of VG (Vegetable Glycerin) to PG (Propylene Glycol) in your e-liquid always equals 100%. So, if you're using an e-liquid with 50% VG, it will also have 50% PG, which is commonly referred to as a 50/50 e-liquid.

For pod kits and MTL (mouth-to-lung) devices, we suggest opting for e-liquids with a 50/50 VG/PG mix. For sub-ohm kits, sub tanks, RBA & RDA's we recommended e-liquid with a VG content of at least 70%.

TPD e-liquids are the standard, regulated size for nicotine-containing e-liquid bottles, adhering to the Tobacco Product Directive (TPD). These pre-mixed bottles offer a wide selection of VG/PG ratios, flavors, and nicotine strengths.

TPD regulations ensure that these e-liquids are sold in 10ml bottles and with a maximum nicotine strength of 20mg/ml.

Freebase e-liquid contains nicotine in its purest, non-salt form, offering a more potent and intense nicotine experience compared to nicotine salts. This form of nicotine is created by adding ammonia to nicotine extracted from tobacco, which increases its pH level, making it more alkaline.

As a result, freebase nicotine e-liquids can deliver a stronger throat hit, making them a preferred choice for experienced vapers or those transitioning from smoking traditional cigarettes

The price of e-liquid primarily varies with the bottle size. Typically, 10ml bottles of vape juice are priced at about £4 to £5 each, though deals like "3 bottles for £10" are common, offering a chance to save while stocking up on your preferred flavors.

Short fill e-liquids, which provide more volume, tend to cost a bit more. For instance, 50ml short fills generally range from £13 to £15, while 100ml bottles can be found for £15 to £20. Buying larger volumes usually offers better value for your money.

The lifespan of e-liquid is generally between one to two years, assuming it's kept under the right conditions. For maximum freshness, e-liquid should be stored away from direct sunlight and heat, in a cool and dark place.

Opening the bottle introduces air, which can start to degrade its quality & flavour, which is why we advise using the e-liquid within six months once opened.

Absolutely, you're free to use e-liquids from any brand with your vaping device.
